Pro Media Mag Interview with Seemi
I spoke with Seemi of Pro Media Mag about my new novel Money Matters. Here’s a short preview:
Did your nonfiction writing experience help you write Money Matters?
Yes, it did. Even when I was writing for academic publishers, I cultivated a colloquial manner of speech. I also learned from my earlier work, especially the award-winning biography of Christopher Isherwood and my last work of nonfiction Terrorized, how to research material. A novel set in the immediate past requires a surprising amount of research—into localities, dress styles, election issues, immigration legislation, and ICE procedures, Mexican gang history and operations, hedge fund reporting—I could go on. It is important to be able to uncover the material you want speedily to avoid losing track in your head of the narrative thread.

Writer’s Life Magazine Interview with Ladonna Smith
I spoke with LaDonna Smith of Writer’s Life Magazine about my new novel Money Matters. Here’s a short preview:
Who is your new novel Money Matters for?
I wanted Money Matters to appeal equally to readers of crime fiction and the suspense genre, and to those who also like engagement with contemporary issues and social concerns. So I tried to give it an exciting sequence of events while having characters who reflect on the significance of how they act. I also employ a lot of dialogue to dramatize the social issues raised in the narrative. That way, those who read primarily for the plot will stay engaged while thematic concerns are being raised.

Money Matters Book Launch at Small World Books
Celebrating my succesful book launch for Money Matters with my publicicst Nanda Dyssou of Coriolis Company
Yesterday, I hosted a book launch event for my novel Money Matters at Small World Books in Venice.
The bookstore was packed to the point that it became a standing-room only event. My PR and Marketing consultant, Nanda Dyssou from Coriolis Company opened the event and called David St. John to the stage. David, an old friend and colleague, then introduced me.
I read four short excerpts from Money Matters, and then discussed them with David. Lastly, I took questions from the audience.
After that, I signed copies that were purchased in-store. Sales were great, I’m told. Copies of Money Matters are available for purchase in Small World Books, and starting tomorrow they will also be available on Amazon.
I want to thank Small World Books, David, Nanda, and everyone who attended. To everyone who bought my book, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Until next time,
Brian Finney — Writer
